In a continuing effort to provide high-quality products, Autodesk Inventor 2017 SP1 addresses multiple issues. This document highlights these issues and provide instructions to install the service pack.
General
- The SP1(Build 196) installs on Autodesk Inventor 2017 (Build 142).
- When appending SP1 for a deployment, update the deployment image on the same bit-type computer as the computer used for the final installation from that image. For more information about Network Deployments,
see the Network Administrator's Guide.
- Keep the original installation media or network image accessible during installation and uninstallation.
- SP1 includes released hotfixes for Autodesk Inventor 2017. No prerequisite installations are required.
Installation
- Update your operating system before installing Autodesk Inventor 2017 SP1.
- Make sure Inventor keeps closed before installing Autodesk Inventor 2017 SP1.
- Double-click the .exe file to update Autodesk Inventor 2017 with SP1, an installer window will show the install progress while the installer updates the files on your system.
- Reboot your system after the installation of SP1.
Check the Control Panel to verify the installation was successful.
Windows 7: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Program and Features -> Installed Updates.
Windows 8: Control Panel on the desktop Charms Bar -> Settings menu -> Programs-> Program and Features -> Installed Updates.
Windows 10: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Settings menu -> Programs-> Program and Features -> Installed Updates.
The Programs list should display, Autodesk Inventor Professional 2017 SP1, version: 196, the installation was successful.
Uninstallation
- Have the original source media available when uninstalling.
- The installation process is prolonged as it waits for the operating system’s file updates to time out. This process takes up to two hours.
- To speed up the uninstall process, after the file updates are complete:
- Access Network Connections in your system Control Panel.
- Disable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- After the uninstall process completes successfully, in your system Control Panel, re-enable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- Reboot the system after the uninstallation of SP1 is complete.
If uninstall Inventor directly here, SP1 will be uninstalled with Inventor as well.
Deployment
- Method 1
- Create or modify a deployment, on the Deployment Configuration Complete page, click Add Updates button to open Application Manager.
- Select Inventor 2017 SP1 and add it. Please note, when installing Inventor 2017 SP1 from the deployment, SP1 install window will not be shown, SP1 will be installed with silent mode.
- Method 2
- Create or modify a deployment, Navigate to Configure page, unfold Include Additional software dialog.
- Add Inventor 2017 SP1 and modify the name if you want. Please note: if you don’t want the SP1 installation process dialog shown, please add “/S” as the command line parameter
- Method 3
- Create a deployment, under Img folder, create sub-folder ADDONS\ADDON_INVENTOR2017_SP1_0 and copy INVENTOR2017_SP1.exe into this folder.
- Open DeployName.ini file which is located in Img folder as well. Find EXE_SEQUENCE and add “ADDON_SEQUENCE=ADDON_INVENTOR2017_SP1_0” under that line; add the following text in the bottom of the file

- Save the DeployName.ini.
Known Installation Issues
- If Inventor was installed from a network location, the installation of SP1 may run up to twice as slow as expected. This is due to additional security checking by Microsoft. For more information, please see Installation might require several hours to complete.
You can opt out of the additional Microsoft security checking by running the SP1 installer from the Windows command line with the optional argument OPTOUT_KB2918614=YES
- After installing SP1, Autodesk Guided Tutorial Plugin will be updated from RTM version(3.30.0) to new version(4.10.0), after uninstalling SP1, Guided Tutorial Plugin cannot roll back to RTM version. If you want to roll back to RTM version, please uninstall Guided Tutorial Plugin form Control Panel -> Settings menu -> Programs-> Program and Features, then install it again from original source media ...x64\LWS\AutodeskGuidedTutorialPlugin.msi.
- A Warning 1946 dialog may be seen during installation. This is a benign Microsoft warning and can be safely ignored. Simply click OK on the dialog.
- If you want to install SP1 again after SP1 uninstall, when double click SP1 EXE, a further uninstall will perform, then re-invoke SP1 EXE to start apply SP1 again.

- Verify that you have administrator privileges on your local machine to install Autodesk Inventor 2017 SP1.
- Autodesk Inventor 2017 SP1 is approximately 139 MB in size. A minimum of 1.43 GB of free disk space is required on the drive where temporary files are directed.

- 131659 3D PDF Templates have been improved for size and performance. You may obtain updated templates for the various supported languages by visiting this location.
- 122841 Exporting 3D PDF with Task Scheduler, Inventor does not run in silent mode.
- 122501 Unable to change font to Arial Black (9) when exporting 3D PDF.
- 122994 Inventor Sample File "Personal Computer" cannot be exported as a 3D PDF.

- 124309 Using the new API TranslatorAddIn.SaveCopyAs to convert certain BRep parts to mesh parts receive a bug alert and crashes.
- 124919 Alias and CATIA cloud mesh do not support Preview and Load Model.
