Issues resolved by this patch

This patch contains an update to the FBX SDK and provides a number of security improvements related to processing FBX, DAE, 3DS, and DXF format files.

This patch also addresses issues reported directly to Autodesk and contains the fixes included in previous Autodesk Revit 2017 patches. Consult the release notes for all areas improved by this patch.

Additional software included in this patch

This patch installs the Autodesk DYNAMOREVIT Add-in for Revit 2017, which does not include a desktop shortcut. Instead, the DYNAMOREVIT add-in is accessed from the Visual Programming panel found on the Manage tab of the ribbon. If multiple versions of the DYNAMOREVIT add-in are installed, a dialog will prompt you to select which version to launch.

  General installation information

  Before you begin

  As you prepare to install this patch, keep the following in mind:

  Administrative privileges

  In order to apply this patch, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.

  Product media

  Under some circumstances, you may be asked to provide the original installation source.

  If you installed Autodesk Revit 2017 from the DVD or USB, you may be asked to insert the disk or USB during installation of the patch. Please have the disk or USB available before starting.

  If you downloaded and installed Autodesk Revit 2017 from the web and later deleted the extracted files (default location of extracted files is C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk Revit 2017), the patch installation may not be able to continue. In that case, you should follow these steps:

  1. Obtain the web download file and save it to your computer.
  2. Double click the download file and allow it to extract its files, noting where they are being saved.
  3. When the Autodesk Revit installer screen appears, click "Cancel".
  4. Continue with the patch installation as described in the installation instructions.

  Backup custom files

  Back up all customized files, such as Revit.ini, before starting.

  Network deployment

  Special command line switches are available for administrators.

  /q - Suppresses the completion message after this patch is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply this patch to multiple computers.

  Apply this patch to an existing installation

  Follow these instructions to install this patch on a single computer.

  1. Download Autodesk_Revit_2017_2_1.exe and save it to any folder.
  2. Ensure the original product installation media is available.
  3. Find the folder where you saved the patch and double-click the patch (EXE) file.

  Apply this patch to a deployment installation image

  Follow these instructions to apply this patch to a deployment image.

  1. Start the Autodesk Revit 2017 deployment creation process. If you need to add a patch to an existing deployment image, launch the update shortcut located in the Tools\ApplyUpdates folder and skip to step 4.
  2. When the deployment creation or modification process is complete and the Deployment Configuration Complete dialog is displayed, click Add Updates.
  3. If a Security Warning dialog is displayed, click Run.
  4. In the Autodesk Application Manager, click Update Software.
  5. Click Add for the patch to be applied to this deployment image.
  6. Once the patch has been successfully downloaded, click Close to exit the Autodesk Application Manager.

  Uninstall this patch

  Note: This patch cannot be uninstalled to revert Autodesk Revit 2017 to its pre-patch state. If you need to remove the patch, please uninstall Autodesk Revit 2017 and then reinstall it.
