Release Notes - FeatureCAM 2018 and PartMaker 2018 Readme
Autodesk, Inc.
In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Autodesk FeatureCAM 2018 and Autodesk PartMaker 2018. This readme highlights significant new improvements and provides useful information for operating FeatureCAM and PartMaker.
User Interface
- A new Ribbon interface has replaced the old menu and toolbar interface.
- A new Options dialog consolidates many settings into a single location.
- The simulation toolbar now appears in the graphics window as a "heads-up display" and is always available.
- By default, the application now accesses the Reference help, What's New guide, and Getting Started guide online, which will always be the most up to date version. Search engines can also be used to access help information for FeatureCAM. For customers who prefer a local copy, the Reference help may be downloaded from the Autodesk Knowledge Network.
Manufacturing
- [Premium] You can now specify an automatic parallel angle for parallel finishing toolpaths so that FeatureCAM determines the most appropriate angle for each region of the feature.
- [Premium] For 5-axis positioning toolpaths, you can request that FeatureCAM automatically select a 5-axis orientation based on the machine limits specified in the current machine simulation model.
- [Ultimate] FeatureCAM has added support for milling machines with a head-head configuration that rotates about the C axis and a 45-degree A axis.
Analytics
- Support for Autodesk Desktop Analytics and Customer Error Reporting programs.
Solids Interface
- New "heads up display"-style solids window toolpath verification toolbar.
- Display of current toolpath point information in status bar during solids window toolpath verification.
- Improvement to the "Extract Parameters from Solid" command to work with partial hole surfaces.
Machining Processes
- Support for laser machining.
- Toolpath lock for all milling profile groups.
- Support for keyway broaching toolpaths.
- Ability to auto-lock toolpaths after calculation.
- Embedding process-end and finished part 3d models into a setup sheet.
User Interface
- Ability to float and dock simulation, process table and NC viewer windows.
ConfigPost
- New Redo command in ConfigPost and improvement to the existing Undo command.
