Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking 2016.2 Readme

Thank you for using Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking 2016.2.

This readme contains important information about Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking 2016.2 that may not be included in the Help. For reference, save or print this document. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you install.

Severe Steering Warning

The severe articulation and steering warning now uses the physical limits from the vehicle and not the model's current limits.

Incorrect aircraft silhouettes

Three planes have been removed from the library: A350-800, A350-900 and A350-1000.

Support for Bentley® MicroStation®

Support for Bentley® MicroStation® V8i (SELECTseries 1, 2, and 3) as host applications for Autodesk Vehicle Tracking has been added.

Note: To enable support for MicroStation, MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 1, 2, or 3) must be installed prior to installing Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016.

Help and readme items on Start menu

After installation, program group items for accessing the Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking Help and readme are available in the application's program group on the Microsoft® Windows® Start menu.

Roundabout elevations

An issue that impacted Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking roundabouts in Autodesk® AutoCAD® Civil 3D® has been resolved. This issue caused the centerline elevations of the approach and exit halves of each arm of the roundabout to differ.

Affected roundabouts in existing drawings can be updated by performing the following task:

  1. Upgrade to Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016.
  2. Open the drawing in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016.
  3. Select an Autodesk Vehicle Tracking roundabout.
  4. Run the _adskJunctionEdit command to display the Junction Properties dialog box and click Apply. This will update the approach and exit elevations of the roundabout's profiles and corridor.
  5. Note: If the profiles and corridor are not updated automatically when you perform step 4, run the _adskJunctionEdit command, click 3D Corridor to display the Corridor properties, select the Update Profiles and Update Corridor check boxes, and click Rebuild Now.

  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each roundabout in the drawing.

Parking bay row markings

The ability has been added to not display the parking bay row markings for the first and last bays in a row of bays when there is no island.

Curved rows of parking bays

An update has been made to curved rows of parking bays so that available free space at the end of a row on the outer edge of the curve is converted into an extra bay.

Standards for FHWA roundabouts

  • A change has been made to the definition of the standards for the FHWA Mini Roundabouts so that the tilted plane is turned off by default.
  • A change has been made to the definition of the standards for the FHWA Rural Double Lane Roundabouts so that the default widths of the circulatory lanes can accommodate the design vehicle.

Starting Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking on MicroStation® and opening MicroStation® DGN™ files

An issue that occurred after starting Autodesk Vehicle Tracking on MicroStation by using either the desktop shortcut icon or the program group icon has been resolved. Previously, an alert dialog box that contained the message "File <file name> does not exist" would be displayed on some computers. If you clicked OK in the dialog box and opened a DGN file, a MicroStation Text Window would be displayed informing you that the OS could not load atru811ss3.dll and the Autodesk Vehicle Tracking icons were not displayed on the main toolbar.

  • To load and run Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking for AutoCAD manually
  • To load and run Autodesk® Vehicle Tracking for MicroStation manually

Unresponsive host application

When you start a supported host application after installing Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, and the host application appears to become unresponsive, it may be because a hidden dialog box is waiting for a response from you. Please use Alt+Tab to switch to and review the open dialog boxes on your machine and reply to any prompts as required.

Additional item in Programs and Features dialog box

On 64-bit operating systems, two items are created for Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016 in the Programs and Features dialog box in the Windows Control Panel. These entries are Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016 (32 bit) and Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016 (64 bit). The 32-bit entry includes the support for MicroStation.

Autodesk Vehicle Tracking runs in all of the supported languages, but the installer is in English only.

Supported license combinations

The license types that can be used for Autodesk Vehicle Tracking when used with AutoCAD or a supported AutoCAD-based host application depend upon the license type of the host application. For more information, see About the Autodesk Vehicle Tracking Licensing System in the Autodesk Installation Help.

Network deployment administrative image path

It is strongly recommended that you use a UNC path when specifying the administrative image path for a network deployment. For more information about network deployments, see the Autodesk Network Administrator's Guide.

Supported host applications

After you install Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, it is available in the supported host applications that were installed before Autodesk Vehicle Tracking if their license types are compatible with the Autodesk Vehicle Tracking license type.

Note: The licensing type compatibility requirement applies to AutoCAD and supported AutoCAD-based host applications only. Any Autodesk Vehicle Tracking license type can be used with MicroStation, regardless of how the MicroStation licensing is configured. For more information, see Supported license combinations.

The supported host applications are the following products:

If you install AutoCAD or supported AutoCAD-based host applications after installing Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, you must perform the following procedure in order to enable Autodesk Vehicle Tracking in those applications.

Transferring Autodesk Vehicle Tracking data between DWG™ files created with AutoCAD® and supported AutoCAD-based host applications and DGN™ files created with MicroStation®

If you use AutoCAD or a supported AutoCAD-based host application to open a DGN file that contains Autodesk Vehicle Tracking data, the Autodesk Vehicle Tracking data will not be accessible. Likewise, if you use MicroStation to open a DWG file that contains Autodesk Vehicle Tracking data, the Autodesk Vehicle Tracking data will not be accessible.

To access the data in either situation, you must first export the Autodesk Vehicle Tracking data using the source host application, and then import it using the target host application. For more information, see the following topics in the Help:

Compatibility between versions of Autodesk Vehicle Tracking

Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016 is fully compatible with Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2015, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2015.2 and Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2015.3.

Compatibility between drawings

DWG files that contain Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016 data are binary compatible with DWG files that contain Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2014 or AutoTrack v12.00 data.

Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016 can open DWG files that contain older versions of AutoTrack data (pre-AutoTrack v12.00 data). The older AutoTrack data will be converted to the new format when the drawing is opened. This is a one-way conversion. After the drawing that contains the converted data is saved, the data cannot be converted back to the older format by re-opening the drawing in an older version of AutoTrack (pre-AutoTrack v12.00).

Note: AutoTrack from Savoy Computing Services Ltd is not the same as Autodesk's feature called AutoTrack™ that exists within Autodesk® AutoCAD®.

Compatibility between library and standards files

Autodesk Vehicle Tracking 2016 can open AutoTrack (v9.00 and later) library and standards files. If you save these files in Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, they cannot be opened again in AutoTrack.
