Blended Box Map
The Blended Box map allows you to project maps onto objects in a much simpler way than the tradition method requiring complex UV mapping. It is ideal for situations where you want to apply a box map across one or more objects to map them from all sides, such as applying details like dirt and grime.
Working similarly to box mapping, Blended Box map projects images from three 90° directions. You can project a one, three, or 6 different maps for every side of the projection box. A key difference between the two mapping types is blending. Traditional box or cube mapping would create hard seams between the different UV projections, where Blended Box mapping gives you the ability to blend between the maps for a more seamless result.
Data Channel Modifier
3D objects are made up of various subcategories of data that define attributes such as geometry, vertex color settings, world coordinates, selections, and texture mapping information. The data for each subcategory is stored in a separate channel. Using the Data Channel modifier, you can apply various processes to various data channels as they flow through a stack. Any transformations will then update automatically as the object changes state.
The Data Channel modifier can be useful for automating such tricky operations as blending materials based on different states, creating deformations based on an output, or dynamically copying data between channels for storage. Data can be visualized directly in the viewport as gradients of color.
Data channels are manipulated through the use of components called Operators. Added operators are arranged in a stack in the Data Channel modifier panel. The data channel is then procedurally processed as it flows down the list of operators from top to bottom. Operators can be dragged and dropped in the stack to change the order of applying processes.

When a software error occurs, Autodesk’s Customer Error Reporting (CER) makes it easy for you to send the details of the software error to Autodesk for analysis. We thank you for taking the time to fill out these reports and ask you to include as much information as possible about what actions you were performing at the time the error occurred. These details are very much appreciated by the Autodesk 3ds Max Quality Engineering team.
For further information about CERs refer to www.autodesk.com/cer.
For issues not resulting in a CER Autodesk provides a way for you to report general product problems/defects so they can be evaluated and possibly addressed in future products & services.
