Autodesk, Inc.
In
a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has
released Autodesk Vault 2017.1 Update for Autodesk Vault Basic 2017,
Autodesk Vault Workgroup 2017, and Autodesk Vault Professional 2017.
The update addresses a variety of issues pertaining to these releases.
This README file highlights how to download and
install the Vault Update and what has been fixed.
NOTE:
Throughout this Readme document references to Vault 2017 will apply to
Autodesk Vault Basic 2017, Autodesk Vault Workgroup 2017 and Autodesk
Vault Professional 2017.

INSTALLATION
- Pre-Requisite: Vault
2017.1 update is supported ONLY with Inventor 2017.4 update. Vault
client update installation will be blocked, if non Inventor 2017.4
installation is found on the client machine.
- All clients and servers should be upgraded at the same
time to the Autodesk Vault 2017.1 Update
- All future Autodesk Vault 2017 fixes or updates will
require this Update to be installed
- Depending on how your UAC is configured on Windows 7 or
later operating
systems, users may need to turn off User Access Control (UAC) to
install the fix
- To install the fix, Administrative privileges are
required
- Thin Client 2017.1 Update installation is part of Server
fix installation
- The same username which was used to install Thin Client
2017 should be used for installing the fix
- Ensure the latest updates or fixes of all CAD applications
are installed before applying this fix.
- The fix install may take longer than expected in
Windows 7. To avoid that install the following Microsoft fix:

CLIENT
INSTALLATION
Vault 2017.1 Update is applicable to every Autodesk Vault
Client 2017.
- Run "Autodesk Vault 2017.1 Update (Client).msp" on the
each
workstation which has a Vault client installed.
Special Configuration Required for 'Revit Link' Update
To
configure this setting, manually add a property called
"ExcludeLinkedFiles" and set this property to True/False in the
ApplicationPreferences.xml file.
- Close any Revit application.
- Open
ApplicationPreferences.xml file in a text editor. (Typically found at
"C:\Users(username)\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit 201x Vault Addin".)
- Add the following line under the Category
"ApplicationOptions" with the desired value (True/False).
- <Category ID="ApplicationOptions">
- <Property Name="ExcludeLinkedFiles" Value="True"
/>
- </Category>
- Relaunch the Revit application.
SERVER
INSTALLATION
WARNING: Failure to follow
these instructions properly may result in unusable sites.
NOTE: Always ensure that a
successful backup has been performed before applying any updates.
SINGLE SITE
Vault 2017.1 Update is applied to every Autodesk Data
Management Server (ADMS)
- Open the ADMS Console.
- Make sure all databases are fully migrated to the latest
version.
- Migrate all unmigrated databases and libraries before
proceeding.
- It may be necessary to detach an unmigrated database if
the fix addresses a migration problem.
- Close the ADMS Console application.
- Restart the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the
command prompt.
- Run “Autodesk Vault 2017.1 Update (Server).msp” on
the ADMS server
to install the update.
- DO NOT OPEN ADMS or AVFS – DATABASE MIGRATION SHOULD BE
POSTPONED UNTIL INSTRUCTED BELOW.
- Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS server.
- DO NOT OPEN ADMS or AVFS – DATABASE MIGRATION SHOULD BE
POSTPONED UNTIL INSTRUCTED BELOW.
MULTI SITE
(file replication)
Vault 2017.1 Update is applied to the Autodesk Data Management
Server (ADMS) and all Autodesk Vault File Server (AVFS).
- Follow all instructions for installing the fix on a Single
Site.
- Run "Autodesk Vault File Server 2017.1 Update.msp" on
an AVFS server to
install the update.
- Repeat the preceding step for every AVFS server.
CONNECTED WORKGROUP (file and SQL replication)
Vault 2017.1 Update is applied to every Autodesk Data
Management Server (ADMS) in all workgroups.
- Open an ADMS Console on a server in the main workgroup
(connected to the SQL Publisher).
- Make sure all databases are fully migrated to the latest
version.
- Migrate all unmigrated databases and libraries before
proceeding.
- It may be necessary to detach an unmigrated database
if the update addresses a migration problem.
- Close the ADMS Console application.
- Restart the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the
command prompt.
- Run “Autodesk Vault 2017.1 Update (Server).msp” on
the ADMS server
to install the update.
- DO NOT OPEN an ADMS or AVFS – DATABASE MIGRATION
SHOULD BE POSTPONED UNTIL INSTRUCTED BELOW.
- Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS server in all
workgroups.
- DO NOT OPEN an ADMS or AVFS – DATABASE MIGRATION SHOULD
BE POSTPONED UNTIL INSTRUCTED BELOW.
Database Update
- Use the appropriate server and ADMS Console application.
- Single Site, use your only ADMS Console.
- Multi-Site (file replication), use any of the ADMS
consoles.
- Connected Workgroup (file and SQL replication) use one
of the ADMS Consoles on the Publisher Workgroup.
- Restart the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the command
prompt.
- Open the ADMS Console and perform the database migration.
- If necessary, attach any previously detached databases and
allow the migration to complete.

KNOWN ISSUES:
- After applying Vault 2017.1 update to a Autodesk Vault
File Server (AVFS), users will not be able to log into the AVFS. To
resolve this issue perform the following:
- Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager in
the Control Panel
- Expand the server node and select Application Pools
- Double-click on AutodeskDMPool
- In the Edit Application Pool dialog, change the Manage
pipeline mode option to Integrated
- Click OK
- Perform an IISRESET in a command prompt
- On
some servers installations you may get the error "Installation ended
premature because of an error", you can resolve this by starting a
command prompt as an administration and running the installation.
- Inventor AnyCAD - the 'LOD
Representation' option in 'Open From
Vault' dialog, is not supported for AnyCAD cad files.
Known issues with Uninstallation:
- After
uninstalling Vault 2017 with Vault 2017.1 Update, the previously
installed hotfix items, such as Vault 2017.0.1 Hotfix will remain in
the Installed Updates list in Control Panel. Please follow this
solution to remove them.
- Backup the registry before proceeding.
- Navigate
to register key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall,
find the keys like “Autodesk Vault Professional 2017 (Server)_R22SP1”
and delete them.

SUMMARY OF ISSUES ADDRESSED
Client:
- Update to a security patch that address a vulnerability
where a
specially crafted raster image in a drawing can trigger unauthorized
code execution.
- After moving a parent DWG containing an XREF, performing an
update view
would result in an error with the message, "Visualization file cannot
be created...".
- When 'saving to central' on a Revit file with links, the
upload to
Vault incorrectly created a new version for all files including
unmodified links.
- NOTE: See INSTALLATION
for special configuration required to enable this update.
- Copy Design Updates
- Some models would fail during the 'Gathering
Relationships' phase of the Copy Design process.
- Performing drag and drop operations within Copy Design
would result in Part Numbers not being updated.
- When user deselects "Link Drawing and Model" in Copy
Design, the drawing file should *not* be edited without warning to
users.
- Copy Design not starting, when in List View Search Panel
is
not closed.
- Copy operation, results in successful copy of some files
and fails for other files where duplicate file names are
found. The file name uniquness check should be done before the Copy
action starts.
- Under some circumstances, the Print Change Order Summary
would display incorrect information.
- AutoCAD XREFs could not be resolved...
- When using Copy Design for a parent DWG copied to a new
folder without its XREFs.
- When
performing a Move for a parent DWG moved to a new folder without its
XREFs and additional attachments are created on the parent.
- Performance enhancement for Job Processor DWF creation on
IDWs with references to a large number of assemblies.
- Performing a Get on an Inventor assembly with substitute
parts would sometimes result in a CER.
- Performing a Job Processor Sync Properties on a state
change would
result in Connectivity.JobProcessor.Delegate.Host.exe becoming
unresponsive.
- When mapping file properties with Classification =
Standard, properties
for files attached to Items were not being updated when performing
Assign/Update Item.
- An enhancement to Project Sync that helps reduce
intermittent and unpredictable connectivity behavior during syncs.
- Resolved
an issue where the error dialog "Collection was modified; enumeration
operation may not execute" occurs when navigating Items.
- Vault dialogs do not appear when switching from two
monitors to one.
- If Inventor Date property value is empty, 'Update
properties'
updates the value from empty to an incorrect date.
- German systems: Edit properties with digits after comma
will be converted incorrectly.
- Preview Handler Issue with Vault Explorer 2017 on Windows
10.
- Setting defaults back to 'Update locally' instead of Queue
update, even when user has used 'Queue update' and closed client.
- DWG is selected in BatchPlot even a latest DWF is created
to that drawing.
- Vault Client becomes unresponsive when 2+ clients
connect and
UDP is created.
Server:
- After a DTU import of files, items and BOM, some position
were missing in the BOM in Vault.
- On the Bill Of Material tab, the 'Parts Only' tab was
displaying subassemblies instead of their parts.
- A duplicate file link to an Item could be created when an
Assign Item
is cancelled and the part is replaced in Vault prior to a second Assign
Item.
- Performing an Item import from a CSV file, containing
multiple rows with the same item number, the item would not be created.
Inventor Add-In:
- When selecting a part in an Inventor assembly is was not
being highlighted when viewing the Vault browser.
Thin Client:
- Vault Thin Client Advanced Search is not showing the List
Values of UDP.
