General
- Inventor 2018.1 Update (Build 171) installs on Autodesk Inventor 2018 (Build 112).
- When appending Inventor 2018.1 Update for a deployment, update the deployment image on the same bit-type computer as the computer used for the final installation from that image. For more information about Installing Inventor,
see the Inventor Installation Supplement.
- Keep the original installation media or network image accessible during installation and uninstallation.
- Inventor 2018.1 Update includes released hotfixes for Autodesk Inventor 2018. No prerequisite installations are required.
Installation
- Autodesk Inventor 2018.1 installs .NET 4.6.2 to your operating system.
- Update your operating system before installing Autodesk Inventor 2018.1 Update.
- Make sure Inventor is closed before installing Autodesk Inventor 2018.1 Update.
- Double-click the .exe file to update Autodesk Inventor 2018 with 2018.1 Update, an installer window will show the install progress while the installer updates the files on your system.
- Reboot your system after the installation of 2018.1 Update.
Check the Control Panel to verify the installation was successful.
Windows 7: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Program and Features -> Installed Updates.
Windows 8: Control Panel on the desktop Charms Bar -> Settings menu -> Programs-> Program and Features -> Installed Updates.
Windows 10: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Settings menu -> Programs-> Program and Features -> Installed Updates.
The Programs list should display, Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018.1 Update, version: 171, the installation was successful.
Uninstallation
- Have the original source media available when uninstalling.
- The installation process is prolonged as it waits for the operating system’s file updates to time out. This process takes up to two hours.
- To speed up the uninstall process, after the file updates are complete:
- Access Network Connections in your system Control Panel.
- Disable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- After the uninstall process completes successfully, in your system Control Panel, re-enable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- Reboot the system after the uninstallation of 2018.1 Update is complete.
Deployment
Known Installation Issues
- If Inventor was installed from a network location, the installation of 2018.1 Update may run up to twice as slow as expected. This is due to additional security checking by Microsoft. For more information, please see Installation might require several hours to complete.
You can opt out of the additional Microsoft security checking by running the 2018.1 Update installer from the Windows command line with the optional argument OPTOUT_KB2918614=1
- After installing 2018.1 Update, Autodesk Guided Tutorial Plugin will be updated from RTM version(4.40.0) to new version(4.60.0), after uninstalling 2018.1 Update, Guided Tutorial Plugin cannot roll back to RTM version. If you want to roll back to RTM version, uninstall Guided Tutorial Plugin from Control Panel -> Settings menu -> Programs-> Program and Features, then install it again from original source media ...x64\LWS\AutodeskGuidedTutorialPlugin.msi.
- A Warning 1946 dialog may be seen during installation. This is a benign Microsoft warning and can be safely ignored. Click OK to dismiss the warning.

- Verify that you have administrator privileges on your local machine to install Autodesk Inventor 2018.1 Update.
- Autodesk Inventor 2018.1 Update is approximately 363 MB in size. A minimum of 2.7 GB of free disk space is required on the drive where temporary files are directed.

Inventor 2018 Updates, then install it manually.

3D Annotations
- Switching between Preparations, Welds and Machining folders in Weldment environment removes existing annotations and the Annotations folder.
- Moving End of Part above a part or assembly feature in the browser removes the 3D annotations attached to these features.
- After deleting a part or assembly feature, annotations attached to them are deleted in the scene, however, the browser nodes are not removed.

- Cannot set CornerFeature.Definition.CornerOptions.
- IsFutureCADFile, CanCADFileBeAssociativelyImported and GetCADFileStructure methods do not work for ApprenticeServerComponent.

- Added TemplateFilename and BOMStructure for FileMetadata to allow users to specify the template and default BOM structure.
- Inventor unexpectedly exits when switching panels with BrowserPane.OnActive event watching.
- Non transacting client graphics does not work as expected.

Assembly Modeling
- Inventor unexpectedly exits when you edit Shrinkwrap feature with exclude or include components and Associative option is enabled.
- BOM column sort in Model Data tab does not work.
- Inventor sometimes unexpectedly exits in Stress Analysis environment with error alert.
- Shrinkwrap dialog is clipped.
- Inventor unexpectedly exits when you switch the level of detail from the drop-down list in the Shrinkwrap dialog during editing shrinkwrap feature.
- Features are not maintained on a part which are initially removed and then selected from excluded view.
- Sub-assembly components set to invisible may continue to be visible.
- Selected component is not deleted in Assembly by pressing Delete key.
- Work geometries do not highlight in the graphic window when hovering mouse over browser in Constraint dialog.
- Edit constraint value does not behave correctly after you undo and redo a constraint edit.
- The QTY is always "1" in Excel sheet for iAssembly part members when exporting a BOM.
- Numeric values are incorrectly converted to text when exporting a Parts List to Excel.

- Inventor unexpectedly exits when you edit a ring feature.
- Belleville spring generator disappears after turning off and turning on the Spring Set option.

- The Surface analysis does not display correctly.
- Multi-Sampling Anti-Aliasing does not take effect when the Quality mode setting is inherited from the previous Inventor install.
