Vault 2018.3.5 Update

In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released this cumulative Vault 2018.3.5 Update for Vault Basic 2018, Vault Workgroup 2018, and Vault Professional 2018. The update addresses a variety of issues pertaining to these releases.

This release note highlights how to download and install the Vault Update and what has been fixed.


NOTE: Throughout this release document references to Vault 2018 will apply to Vault Basic 2018, Vault Workgroup 2018 and Vault Professional 2018.

INSTALLATION

CLIENT INSTALLATION

WARNING: In case of Vault Client side by side installation of different editions for same release, make sure that every Add-in is enabled ONLY in one of Vault client edition. If you face issue installing the client update; remove the Add-in which is enabled in more than one edition, from all the Vaul client editions. Install Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.5_Update_(Client). And finally enable the Add-in in one edition.

SERVER INSTALLATION

WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions properly may result in unusable sites.

NOTE: Always ensure that a successful backup has been performed before applying any updates.

SINGLE SITE

Update Installation

  1. Reset the web service on the Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) by typing 'IISRESET' at a command prompt.
  2. Run 'Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.5_Update_(Server).exe' on the server to install the update.
  3. Open the ADMS Console and migrate all un-migrated databases and libraries before proceeding.
  4. Close the ADMS Console application.

Database Update

  1. Open a command prompt and navigate to the installed location of Connectivity.ADMSConsole.exe.
  2. Run ADMS b2bmigrate operation in command line mode:
  3. A 'migration successful' dialog will display when the b2bmigrate operation has completed.
  4. If necessary, open ADMS Console and attach any previously detached databases.

MULTI SITE (File Replication)

Update Installation – applied to every Autodesk File Server (AVFS).

  1. Reset the web service by typing 'IISRESET' at a server command prompt.
  2. Run 'Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.5_Update_(Server).exe' on an AVFS site to install the update.
  3. Repeat the preceding steps for every AVFS site.

CONNECTED WORKGROUP (File and SQL Replication)

Update Installation – applied to every Autodesk Vault Server (ADMS) and Autodesk Vault File Server (AVFS) in all workgroups.

  1. Reset the web service by typing 'IISRESET' at a server command prompt.
  2. Run 'Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.5_Update_(Server).exe' on an ADMS site to install the update.
  3. Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS site in all workgroups.
  4. Open one ADMS Console on the Publisher workgroup and migrate all databases and libraries before proceeding.
  5. Close the ADMS Console application.

Database Update – applied ONCE from ONE Autodesk Vault Server (ADMS) on the Publisher workgroup ONLY.

WARNING: DO NOT PROCEED until the update has been successfully applied on ALL ADMS sites in all workgroups.

  1. Ensure that all workgroups are online and accessible before proceeding. Do not proceed until the Replication Status | Merge Information dialog shows "Waiting 60 second(s) before polling for further changes." for each replicated vault and library.
  2. Open a command prompt and navigate to the installed location of Connectivity.ADMSConsole.exe.
  3. Run ADMS b2bmigrate operation in command line mode:
  4. A 'migration successful' dialogue will display when the b2bmigrate operation has completed.
  5. If necessary, open ADMS Console and attach any previously detached databases.
  6. Update all Autodesk Vault File Server (AVFS) in all workgroups following the steps in the Multi-site instructions above.
