In a continuing effort to provide high quality
products,
Autodesk has released this cumulative Vault 2018.3.3 Update for Vault
Basic 2018, Vault Workgroup 2018, and Vault Professional 2018. The
update addresses a variety of issues pertaining to these releases.
This release note highlights how to download and
install the Vault Update and what has been fixed.
NOTE: Throughout this release document references to Vault
2018 will
apply to Vault Basic 2018, Vault Workgroup 2018 and Vault Professional
2018.

INSTALLATION
Requirements
Server & Client:
- Vault Basic 2018.3
- Vault Workgroup 2018.3
- Vault Professional 2018.3
Inventor:
AutoCAD:
Other:
- All clients and servers should be upgraded at the same time
to the Vault 2018.3.3 Update
- Depending
on how your UAC is configured on Windows 7 or later operating systems,
users may need to turn off User Access Control (UAC) to install the
Update
- To install the Update, Administrative privileges are
required
- When
creating deployment in silent mode or modifying it, you can add the
Vault Update EXE file into the deployment image through "Include
additional software". Note: the "/quiet" command parameter is needed to
suppress the full UI of Vault Update installer
- The
Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Client).exe,
Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Server).exe and
Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(File_Server).exe are EXE wrappers. You
can use <Full Path to Exe> /e <Folder to
Extract> to
extract its content. For e.g.
“C:\Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Client).exe” /e “C:\Extract”. The
contents will be extracted to <Folder to
Extract>\ExtractFiles
- The Update install may take longer than expected
on the Windows 7
operating system. To avoid the install delay, install the following
Microsoft fix:

CLIENT
INSTALLATION
WARNING: In case of Vault Client
side by side
installation of different editions for same release, make sure that
every Add-in is enabled ONLY in one of Vault client edition. If you
face issue installing the client update; remove the Add-in which is
enabled in more than one edition, from all the Vaul client editions.
Install Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Client). And finally enable the
Add-in in one edition.
- Run "Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Client).exe" on the
each workstation which has a Vault client installed.
- Vault client update installation will be blocked, if
Inventor 2018.3 update or later is not found on the client machine.
- If
different editions of the same release of the Vault client are
installed side by side, all editions will ge upgraded to Vault 2018.3.3
at the same time. There will only be one entry of Vault 2018.3.3 Update
in the Programs and Features for all editions. When the Vault 2018.3.3
Update is uninstalled, all the editions will roll back to previous
version.
- Ensure the latest updates or fixes of all CAD applications
are installed before applying this Update.
- User
may be asked to restart the workstation on which Vault client is
installed, after installing OR unintalling the Vault 2018.3.3 client
update.
SERVER
INSTALLATION
WARNING: Failure to follow
these instructions properly may result in unusable sites.
NOTE: Always ensure that a
successful backup has been performed before applying any updates.
SINGLE SITE
Update Installation
- Reset the web service on the Autodesk Data Management
Server (ADMS) by typing 'IISRESET' at a command prompt.
- Run 'Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Server).exe' on the
server to install the update.
- Open the ADMS Console and migrate all un-migrated databases
and libraries before proceeding.
- NOTE: It may be necessary to detach an
un-migrated database if the update addresses a migration problem.
MULTI SITE (File Replication)
Update Installation – applied to every
Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS).
- Reset the web service by typing 'IISRESET' at a server
command prompt.
- Run 'Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Server).exe' on an
ADMS server to install the update.
- Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS server.
- Open one ADMS Console and migrate all unmigrated databases
and libraries before proceeding.
NOTE: It may be necessary to detach an
un-migrated database if the update addresses a migration problem.
Database Update – applied ONCE
from ONE Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS).
WARNING: DO NOT PROCEED until the
update has been successfully applied on ALL ADMS servers.
CONNECTED WORKGROUP (File and SQL
Replication)
Update Installation – applied to every
Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) in all workgroups.
- Reset the web service by typing 'IISRESET' at a server
command prompt.
- Run 'Autodesk_Vault_2018.3.3_Update_(Server).exe' on an
ADMS server to install the update.
- Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS server in all
workgroups.
- Open one ADMS Console on the Publisher workgroup and
migrate all un-migrated databases and libraries before proceeding.
- NOTE: It may be necessary
to detach an un-migrated database if the update addresses a migration
problem.
Database Update – applied ONCE
from ONE Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) on the Publisher
workgroup ONLY.
WARNING: DO NOT PROCEED until the
update has been successfully applied on ALL ADMS servers
in all workgroups.
- Ensure that all workgroups are online and
accessible before proceeding. Do not proceed until the Replication
Status | Merge Information dialog shows "Waiting 60 second(s) before
polling for further changes." for each replicated vault and library.
- If necessary, open ADMS Console and attach any previously
detached databases.
KNOWN
ISSUES:
- Server installation may end with an Error - 'Installation
ended prematurely because of an error'. You can resolve this error by
running the installer from an Administrator command prompt.
- Uninstalling
Vault 2018.3.3 Update client update may seek the 2018 RTM client
install
media. Please note that the uninstall action needs the original files
to roll back to the previous version.
- Known Issues with 'Share View' feature:
- Autodesk
Account 'Sign In' dropdown options are not updated to reflect the
correct status, after successful login from 'Share View' command OR
from 'Shared View' panel. Relaunching Vault client will reflect the
correct dropdown options.
- Install Update will clear customize Main Menu and Toolbar
settings on the user client machine. User can backup the customized
toolbar by making a copy of the xml files and restore the same by
copying the backed up xml files after installing client update.
- Window
update 'KB2533623' for Windows 7 needs to be installed on the system
where user has configured the Job processor and Vault client, otherwise
an error is seen when user tries the update view using Job processor.
- Inventor
Application Options customized settings will take effect only when
Inventor is used for update view. Publishing using Vault client will
use default settings.

2018.3.3 Update:

- Resolved an issue where an invalid error message is displayed when file cannot be replaced. (PDM-22913)
- Resolved an issue when trying to perform an advanced search using a user defined property with listed values would have the list appear improperly behind the advanced search dialog. (PDM-22506)
- Improved server stability when exporting Item as XML. (PDM-19841)
- Resolved the issue that overwritten BOM position is not saved. (PDM-20856)
- Resolved an issue where revision table height change when Job Processor updates revision table. (PDM-20892)
- Resolved an issue where the Send Link functionality will not behave properly when logged into the server has http:\\servername or https:\\servername. (PDM-21879)
- Fix the unknown status issue when downloading dwg from Vault which is migrated from Vault 2013. (PDM-22303)
- Resolved the issue to refresh and immediately show the latest status of the file in advanced search window, after doing any operation (Like Change State) on a file from the same window. (PDM-22553)
- Resolved an issue where a server method to 'find files by paths' was failing for input paths with differing capitalization. (PDM-23110)
- Remove faulty server-side check for lifecycle state display order. (PDM-23153)
- Vault data transfer utility is now correctly applying lifecycle state purge rules on imported files. (PDM-23158)
2018.3.2 Update:
- Improved stability when using the Inventor Save and Save As commands with Vault Inventor-Addin. (PDM-21721)
- Corrected incorrect status icon if file checked in during closing of the Office applications. (PDM-20952)
- Resolved the issue with DWF publish of Inventor files, when the Design Data path setting of the Inventor project tile is a Relative path. (PDM-20765)
- Corrected an issue where a false positive on BOM insertion cyclic check has been eliminated. (PDM-20550)
- Resolved an issue with a property display name being incorrectly truncated after 60 characters, it now supports up to 100 characters. (PDM-21608)
- Resolved the issue with sorting the list of files selected for bulk update of metadata or user defined properties. (PDM-21841)
- Resolved an issue where assigning a specific item to a BOM was taking too long. (PDM-21594)
- Resolved the issue that UDP's on Items are not populated if file is not checked out/checkin. (PDM-21067)
- Resolved issue where a file could be changed to a denied lifecycle state by changing the lifecycle definition. (PDM-21051)
- Resolved an issue where an Office file custom property name text is garbled when modifying the property's value within Vault Explorer. (PDM-20858)
- Resolved the issue of Assertion Failed when executing Update Properties in Vault ribbon in AutoCAD Mechanical 2018. (PDM-21070)
- Improved the performance for Revit Load Families issue. (PDM-20915)
2018.3.1 Update:
- Resolved issue where you could not enable a property after you disabled it.
- Corrected the issue with UDP mapping for PowerPoint files, in which value is appended with "_x000d_".
- Corrected the mismatched Item units in First-level and Multi-level views in the BOM tab.
- Corrected the Inventor Apprentice error during 'Get' operation after editing file properties.
- Improved the Multi-level BOM tree view to keep it in expanded state when saving item.
- Resolved the issue with conversion of the digits after comma in the German systems for Edit properties.
- As
part of Autodesk’s ongoing efforts to provide the best security
possible to our customers, we proactively applied security updates to
our cloud servers, which also requires an update to your Autodesk
products by October 17th to maintain access to certain features.
- Corrected an issue to export IDW to DWG or DXF with Job Server.
