The Autodesk^® SHP Import/Export Utility 2021 can be installed on Autodesk^® Civil 3D^® 2021. It is recommended, but not required, that you have the latest available update to Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 applied before installing this utility.

You can apply this extension to the following Autodesk products running on all supported operating systems and languages. Be sure to install the correct extension for your software.

• Autodesk^® Civil 3D^® 2021

The Shape Import Export Utility for Autodesk® Civil 3D® 2021 adds the ability to exchange linear strings and COGO points with other systems that support creation and reading of SHP format files.

• The Autodesk Import/Export SHP Utility does not transform coordinates or units. Prior to importing a SHP file, ensure the correct coordinate system is specified in the drawing and ensure the drawing units match the units of the SHP file.
• Selecting a command from the context menu in the SHP Data Manager after you have closed all open drawings will cause Autodesk Civil 3D to close unexpectedly.

As you prepare to install this utility, keep the following in mind:

Back Up Custom Files

It is recommended that you back up all custom CUIX, MNR, and MNL files before you apply this utility.

Administrative Privileges

To apply this utility, you must have privileges to install and uninstall products. During installation or uninstallation, you may be prompted for the original installation media or a network image.

Network Deployment

Administrators can deploy this utility over a network using the Deployment wizard.

Close the Application

It is required that you close Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 before proceeding with the installation of this utility.

Reboot

After you install, it is recommended that you reboot your system even if not prompted.

Follow these instructions to install this utility on a single computer.

1. Download the utility and save it to any folder.
2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
3. Find the folder where you saved the utility and double-click the executable (.msi) file.

Follow these instructions to install this utility on multiple computers using your local network.

1. Download this utility and save it to any shared folder on your local network.
2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
3. Find the shared folder where you saved the utility and double-click the executable (.msi) file.

Note: Installation through your local network using the CAD Manager Control Utility is not supported for this update.

The following method of distributing this utility applies only to administrative images created with the Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 Network Installation wizard. After you complete this procedure, any new deployments of Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 will have the utility applied to them automatically. For information on creating and updating a Network Administrative Image, please see the Autodesk Installation Administrator's Guide.

To apply the utility to an existing Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 administrative image:

1. Download this utility and save it to any shared folder on your local network.
2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
3. On the workstation where you initially created the Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 deployment, open the Tools folder and double-click the Create & Modify a Deployment shortcut icon.
4. Follow the wizard to the product configuration screen and expand the Include additional software accordion.
5. In the Additional Software section, click Add and browse to the location where you saved the utility.
6. Collapse the Include additional software accordion and click the Create button.

Now any new deployments of Autodesk Civil 3D 2021 will have the utility applied to them automatically.

This utility can be uninstalled through the Program and Features section of the Microsoft^® Windows^® Control Panel.

Follow these instructions to uninstall this utility on a single computer.

• In Windows Control Panel > Program and Features, select Autodesk SHP Import/Export Utility 2021 and choose the Uninstall option.
