-
British Standards Assessment update.
The Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Highway Structures & Bridges Inspection & Assessment, has been implemented in the following areas:
- CS 454 Assessment of highway bridges and structures (formerly BD 21/01). This covers Load Optimization Assessment for ALL model 1 and 2,
Accidental vehicle loading, Convoy vehicles and related actions.
- CS 455 Assessment of concrete highway bridges and structures (formerly BD 44/11). The implementation relates to Shear Design for Design Sections, Reinforced Concrete Beams and Pretensioned Prestressed beams. This covers the enhancement for shear at the beam ends and the uncracked section capacity.
-
Ability to read and write files in JSON format [1].
- This covers materials, design sections, pretensioned beams and steel Composite Beams.
- JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) text data is flexible in that you can write code for reading and writing the data in many programming languages.
-
Automation of Design Sections [1].
Structural Bridge Design can be run from the command line to automate a number of tasks using JSON. The automation covers the following section analysis: [2]
- Section properties
- Torsion and shear stress.
- Biaxial bending, shear, and crack width calculations.
- Differential temperature.
- General stress-strain.
-
Automation of Design Beams [1].
Analysis automation with the command line for all types of beam analysis including design parameters [2]. This covers the following design beams types:
- Steel composite beams.
- Pretensioned prestressed beams.
-
Eurocodes Design Section Shear calculation enhancements.
- Concrete sections can be treated as a circular for shear design using the Eurocode 2 truss model in accordance with Orr 2010 [3].
- Section is now determined as a cracked or uncracked condition for shear calculations.
- Lever arm is always calculated rather than defaulting to 0.9 x effective depth.
-
Other Miscellaneous Features:
- Multiple selection added to Structure Envelopes.
- Addition of Superimposed Dead Load stresses in long term creep effects.
- Load optimization back button. This enables addition of live loads without closing a form.
- Additional logging for PDF report creation.

- Fixed an issue blocking the Split Beam Element action when units for Structure Dimensions are set to milimeters.
- Fixed an issue in which the dynamic amplification factor was applied multiple times for Austroads '92.
- Resolved an issue where the Explorer pane tree list nodes did not appear unless hovered over with a cursor.
- Resolved an issue in calculation of Assessment factors in Denton-Burgoyne method relating to the permanent combination.
- Fixed a load optimzation issue relating to BD 37/01 vehicle convoy with unexpected HA UDL.
Design Beams
- Fixed an issue where Eurocode shear values differ depending on UI steps at beam end.
- Fixed an error "Cover is negative"which was shown during Pre-tensioned beam design tendon optimization.
- Fixed an issue in which the printout incorrectly shows the precast results when pretensioned slab for Eurocodes is selected.
- Restored previous edits when canceling from a pretensioned section definition form.
- Fixed an issue when merging precast and insitu shapes.
